HIV/AIDS policy of the SGBVC
Stop Gender Based Violence Center has been involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS for 5 years and since 2018 has been working to reduce the impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on its employees, their families and the communities with which we are associated. We strive to reduce the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS, encourage people to know their status and prevent new infections and also to assist people in getting access to quality treatment and care for HIV/AIDS.

Stop Gender Based Violence Center is committed to the fight against HIV/AIDS
Stop Gender Based Violence Center pledges its commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS. Our NGO is entrusted by South African Parliament with the responsibility of ensuring the protection of the public and will do everything in its power to make sure that HIV/AIDS patients get the care they deserve.
Right of patients who are HIV positive and patients with AIDS
The view of Stop Gender Based Violence Center is that the ethical problems with the nursing of HIV/AIDS patients arise mainly from faulty perceptions.
These patients or clients have the right to:
Confidentiality;
Non-judgemental, effective care according to personal needs;
Empathy for the social dilemma of AIDS and HIV positive patients or clients;
Expert accompaniment for themselves, their families and communities, in order to continue a normal, responsible life;
Protection and life, in the case of the unborn child
Stop Gender Based Violence Center (SGBVC) condemns:
Discrimination against HIV/AIDS infected patients or clients;
Violation of confidentiality
Stop Gender Based Violence Center views HIV/AIDS as a national emergency.
The SGBVC:
Contemplates a strong partnership with the National Department of Health and all stakeholders who wage war against HIV/AIDS;
Includes care for HIV/AIDS patients and management of sexual transmitted diseases (STDs) in the National Curriculum Guidelines;
Works closely with interdepartmental Committee (IDC) on HIVAIDS;
Includes in its Quality Promotion Visit instrument the implementation of Batho Pele and care for the HIV/AIDS patient or client;
Is involved in the World Aids Day Partnership Festival;
The SGBVC was represented at the international HIV/AIDS Conference in Durban, South Africa (12-16 August 2021) by Miss X Mitana, Mr N Sihlangu, Dr N Makhanda and Prof N Mitana.
